Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton for 25 Million
Clubs agreed fee!

Stumbling block could be he's asking for 125k a week!, can we afford to pay that?

Might be bollox but this guy deserves his own thread anyway.

Everton's owners showing ambition and demonstrating that they mean business, whilst we hang around the fucking bargain bucket yet again

I'm not sure they are 'prepared to let him go', they have had contract offers on the table all season for him. His current deal runs out next summer, if he won't sign then I'm not sure what they are supposed to do?

The sort of player we ought to be looking at if we want to progress, Everton are clearly more shrewd than us. Interesting that they're prepared to let Barkley go, is he a wrongun, not progressing or thinks he's bigger than Everton? I suspect all three.

Everton have been linked with Sigurdsson for some time, but Swansea moved quickly to dismiss reports that a bid from the Toffees had been accepted.
'There has been no contact between Swansea City and Everton,' said a club spokesman.

You cant compare Siggy to Snodders im sorry the difference in ability and form over the last few seasons is massive

If you think Lanzini is better fine, id probably agree but id take Sigurddsson and move Lanzini out to the left. But to call him a Icelandic Nolan is very unfair

How you think any of that could be based from not watching him god knows. Anyhow ttfn

Re: Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton for 25 Million
Finally you are basing an argument on what you have seen rather than fucking stats. it's about time. fwiw i think he is one of those players that looks outstanding in average/poor teams when the focul point is them, he was very average for tottenham and he was playing alongside far better players than at swansea and potentially for us.

Rossal 6:19 Tue May 23
Re: Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton for 25 Million
Thats my whole point, I have and seen Sigurddson has had a really good season - which the stats would back up. Just because you might not agree doesn't make it a wrong observation or opinion

You like talking about Snodgrass ay - He wasn't going to oust Lanzini - the difference in quality is huge. Sigurddson is not far off Lanzini for that no 10 position if at all and I think him in the no 10 with Lanzini playing left in a free role like Payet did could work for us. Lanzini has shown he can play wide during his time for us

The decisions made this year I agree were wrong and didnt make sense. We should have played Ayew up top instead of Calleri more often. But I have to believe that the manager will look at them and realise they were mistakes and learn from them otherwise theres not much hope for next season. I find it hard to believe the board and management would make another record signing and use and integrate them so badly yet again

Re: Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton for 25 Million
Can't see us seriously considering this.
Seems clear that we intend to spend 20 - 25m on a MARQUE striker and shout from the rooftops about NEXT LEVEL, so would they also spend 25M on a midfielder and then more on another couple of players?
Everton were spending 28m on a young Lakaklu when we were signing Carroll for a rumoured 15 - 18m. Now they can sell Lakaklu for 50 - 60m. Who is the better run club?

Re: Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton for 25 Million
Sigurdsson is an excellent crosser of the ball, has 13-14 assists & would work well with Antonio, and if still alive AC.

I's be all over Llorente if available..

Re: Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton for 25 Million
The focal point thing is a good one.

Payet was arguably so high in the 'chances created' stakes as he took every single corner and deadball.

Will Sigurdsson be the focus here. There's no doubt he's a very good player, but he won't add pace as has been said, so we'll be relying on Antonio and signing some pacey strikers to bring that into the side if we were to sign him.

Rossal

yes of course you can judge a player on stats, but isn't that how liverpool ended up buying carroll, adam, downing and henderson, because of their stats? you can look at the stats of snodgrass and suggest that up until christmas he was the best goalscoring midfielder outside of the top three, beating many players in the top three teams.

but, ffs, use your eyes and knowledge, not just stats.

"To think that we wouldnt utilise him replicate his Swansea form would be stupid" - ok, so why didnt we play snodgrass in the hole behind the striker where he got most of his 9 goals from then? why did we play ayew wide when his goals came from being up front or behind the striker last season? why do you presume we are going to make him the focul point of the team when we often play players out of position, and when Lanzini is clearly our best player?
